League

HPR 2 - Llanrumney YC 4
Scorer Josh (pen), Ammar

Home game against Llanrumney YC in wet conditions.
We struggled to get a full team out on time today and started with 1 sub. Llanrumney scored a couple of goals from turnover in mid field where we again lost possession and were not quick enough in reaction to defend. We were awarded a penalty and then a super goal from Ammar to level 2-2 at half time. The second half was pretty well balanced with neither side dominating or creating many clear chances. We lost concentration towards then end of the half to concede another 2 goals. Much to work on I am afraid to say.

League

HPR 2 - AFC Whitchurch Yellow 8
Scorer Josh (2)

A good competitive game of football against an organised team today. We had a slow start in an error strewn performance due to the pressure exerted by the opposition. Apart from a few exceptions we were second to most activities ineffective tackling, clearing and marking. As soon as they had an opportunity to shoot they did and without some heroic defence we could have lost by a lot more goals. A standout performer who countered this was Josh who tirelessly worked for the teamer scorer two fabulous goals. He is our pinnacle performer at the moment who needs support of the other team players. He cannot do it all and I encourage all the boys to follow Josh's lead and raise their game. Playing good sides like today is the only way to learn and progress.Jakob made numerous saves and intercepts again and with a solid performances by Theo, Sam and Gruff showed flashes of how good we can be. Having said all this we had our chances a great break by Ammar ended with a shot wide and Josh free kick scraping the bar and just over on another ocassion and not forgetting Jack's forward surge in the first half with a shot not quite with enough power to cross the line!!

Well done boys plenty to work on at training.

Cup

HPR 3 – Rhiwbina FC 2

Scorers: Jack (pen), Josh, Ammar

Combativeness cup game against Rhiwbina. We started the game brightly and created lots of chances. I counted 8 clear chances on goals by half time with the scoreline remaining at 0-0. We had 70% of the play and had them pressed in their half for long periods. In the second half the game opened up as both teams tired and mistakes crept in. We struggled to clear the ball away from danger zones both by foot and head. The game turned in a few minutes after we scored from a penalty spot and then they scored almost immediately. Josh then fired in a long range super goal to peg them back only for them to score another goal on the break as we failed to cover the markers. At 2-2 the game was finely balanced and then a sweeping move started by Yayha with some neat footwork and a lovely passing put Ammar in space who beautifully slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to win the game. Well done all!

League

HPR 5 – Rhiwbina FC 2

Scorers: Ammar, Yayha, Josh, Jack, Fursey

Fine start to the season by the boys with what turned out to be a comfortable win. The first half was a little disjointed in terms of passing, control and marking. We conceded a couple of goals due to lack of concentration. However the second half was much improved with some well taken goals, more fluent passing and lovely 1-2’s which opened up their tiring defence. A great effort by all and a well-deserved win. On a personal note I had to endure the tirade of a very unhappy parent from Rhiwbina but that is another story. Well done all!!
